New Moon Study Group: Amusing Ourselves To Death

This New Moon, we will be engaging in a study of the early media theorists, who wrote extensively about the shift to television culture in the mid 20th century. As we grapple with yet another media revolution -- the shift to algorithmically mediated media -- what lessons from television culture hold true today? And did we, in fact, ever leave it? We will be reading excerpts from Neil Postman and Marshall McLuhan, followed by Socratic discussion. Please RSVP so I can make the right number of printouts!
